Ranchi, May 14: The Jharkhand government has entered a state of high alert due to recent hailstorms and natural disasters. Dr. Irfan Ansari, the state’s Disaster Management and Health Minister, has instructed all district commissioners to be proactive in relief and rescue operations. He has requested a detailed report on the affected areas within three days.
During a high-level review meeting on Thursday, Minister Ansari, along with departmental secretary Vipra Bhal, discussed the weather conditions across various districts, the damage caused to crops by hailstorms, and preparations to tackle potential natural disasters.
Following the meeting, the minister emphasized that public safety is the government’s top priority and that any negligence in relief efforts will not be tolerated. He directed all district commissioners to conduct immediate surveys in areas affected by hailstorms, heavy rainfall, and other natural calamities, assessing the damage to farmers and reporting back to the government.
Minister Ansari assured that farmers whose crops have been affected by hailstorms or adverse weather conditions will receive relief in accordance with regulations. He urged district administrations to act swiftly in this regard.
Additionally, he instructed officials to ensure that relief and rescue teams remain fully active during disaster situations, with special attention given to vulnerable areas. Public awareness regarding weather-related warnings and necessary precautions has also been emphasized.
He stated that the state government is fully prepared to handle any disaster situation and will provide additional resources if needed. Following the government’s directives, district administrations have accelerated their preparations, with crop damage assessments already underway in several districts.
