Ranchi, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised concerns about irregularities in the special intensive revision of the voter list in Jharkhand. On September 4, the party submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, outlining their allegations.
Led by Rakesh Prasad, the BJP’s state vice president and SIR coordinator, a delegation visited the election office. They accused officials of attending a meeting of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in the Barhet assembly constituency, where the Block Development Officer was present. They also claimed that the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were refusing to accept Form-7 submissions and that offline certificates were being issued during the revision process.
The party demanded an investigation into these issues and immediate action. They expressed serious objections to the reported presence of Anshu Kumar Pandey, the Block Development Officer-cum-Block Officer-cum-AERO, at the JMM meeting held on September 3 in Sahibganj district.
The BJP argued that the presence of an election official at a political party meeting raises questions about the impartiality of the revision process and administrative neutrality. They attached photographs of the meeting to their memorandum and called for a high-level inquiry, urging action against those found guilty.
Additionally, the party highlighted complaints from the Ranchi assembly constituency, where BLOs allegedly did not accept Form-7. They emphasized that citizens and authorized representatives of political parties have the right to register objections regarding potential deceased, duplicate, transferred, or ineligible voters. Despite this, reports indicated that some booths were not accepting Form-7 from citizens and BLOs.
The BJP demanded clear instructions for all relevant BLOs to accept Form-7 submissions, including those previously rejected. They also questioned the state government’s directive to issue caste, income, local resident, and EWS certificates offline during the revision process.
The party noted that these certificates could be used to support claims for adding names to the voter list. Therefore, they insisted on proper verification of claims based on such certificates.
Furthermore, the BJP requested an investigation into the alleged unusual increase in the number of voters in certain areas. They urged for scrutiny of sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths where unexpected rises in voter numbers were observed, as well as verification of names of potential deceased, duplicate, transferred, or ineligible voters. The delegation included state minister Manir Uraon, spokesperson Mrityunjay Sharma, and Anil Singh.
