New Delhi: Delhi Capitals captain Jemimah Rodrigues has been fined ₹12 lakh for slow over rate in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 match against Gujarat Giants played on Tuesday. Delhi Capitals lost the closely contested game by three runs.
The official statement from the WPL authorities said the fine was imposed under the league’s code of conduct for violating the minimum over rate regulations. This is the first over rate offence committed by Jemimah Rodrigues in the current season.
The loss and the penalty have impacted Delhi Capitals’ campaign significantly. After seven matches, the team has six points and slipped to fourth place in the points table with a net run rate of -0.164, making their chances of qualifying for the playoffs more challenging.

However, experienced Gujarat all-rounder Sophie Devine displayed excellent composure in the final over, conceding only nine runs and dashing Delhi’s hopes. With this win, Gujarat Giants completed a double over Delhi Capitals this season.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first. Gujarat Giants posted a total of 174 runs for nine wickets. In response, Delhi managed 171 runs for eight wickets, falling short by three runs.
