Patna, April 10: In a heartfelt appeal, supporters of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have urged him not to leave the state, coinciding with his recent swearing-in as a member of the Rajya Sabha. Led by JDU activist Krishna Patel, posters have been displayed at party offices and various locations throughout Patna.
The posters feature images of Nitish Kumar, his son Nishant Kumar, and JDU state president Umesh Kushwaha. The message on the posters reads: “Do not leave Bihar; do not abandon the people of Bihar.”
It further emphasizes that Nitish Kumar’s leadership provides unique security and stability, and notes that while his mission remains incomplete, Nishant Kumar is capable of carrying it forward.
Nitish Kumar has served as Bihar’s Chief Minister since November 2005. He was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha on March 16 and resigned from his position as a member of the Legislative Council (MLC) on March 30. He took the oath as a Rajya Sabha MP in Delhi on Thursday.
Speaking to the media upon his arrival, Nitish Kumar hinted that he might remain in Delhi and indicated a potential leadership change in Bihar within the next three to four days. This development has sparked increased political activity in the state.
Following his return to Patna, the process for forming a new government is expected to accelerate after the 13th of the month. A crucial meeting of the NDA coalition parties has already been convened.
Sources suggest that the new government will be formed after the conclusion of Kharmaas, a period considered inauspicious in the Hindu calendar. Discussions are ongoing regarding the swearing-in ceremony, which is likely to take place at the historic Gandhi Maidan.
In a significant political shift, this will mark the first time a Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take office in Bihar. A meeting of the BJP’s core committee is underway in Delhi to finalize the roadmap for government formation, with senior leaders, including both Deputy Chief Ministers from Bihar, in attendance.
