JD(U) Aims to Strengthen Organization in Uttar Pradesh Ahead of 2027 Elections
JD(U) leader Nishant Kumar plans to bolster the partys presence in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming 2027 assembly elections as an NDA ally.

Patna, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : Bihar’s Health Minister and Janata Dal (United) leader Nishant Kumar announced on Saturday that the party is set to strengthen its organization in Uttar Pradesh in preparation for the 2027 assembly elections. He stated that JD(U) intends to contest the elections as a component of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Speaking to the media, Kumar highlighted that both the people of Uttar Pradesh and party workers have long requested a meeting in the state. In response, he plans to hold a gathering in Uttar Pradesh soon. While JD(U) is primarily linked to Bihar, Kumar noted that the party has a presence in other states as well.
“Our party is fundamentally rooted in Bihar, but we have had a significant presence in other parts of the country. At one time, we were quite strong in the North East. We have had ministers and legislators in various states. Our goal is to develop our organization in Uttar Pradesh and move forward,” he explained.
Kumar emphasized that with the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh approaching in 2027, the party is contemplating its participation and aims to contest as part of the NDA. He mentioned that efforts are underway to strengthen the organization and establish communication with party workers in the state.
In response to the results of the Bihar Legislative Council elections, Kumar congratulated the NDA candidates for their victories and wished them well. He noted that NDA candidates secured wins in three seats, with two going to the BJP and one to JD(U). Kumar attributed the electoral support to the work done by his father, former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the NDA over the past two decades.
Kumar also stated that the party will review the reasons behind any electoral losses. The aim is to identify shortcomings and address them, ensuring the organization becomes even stronger.
