Jasprit Bumrah: The Hanuman of Indian Cricket, Always Delivering in Tough Times

New Delhi, March 10: Whenever the Indian cricket team finds itself in a tight spot, one name echoes among fans and players alike: Jasprit Bumrah. As matches slip away, all eyes turn to Bumrah, hoping he will work his magic. While he may not possess any supernatural powers, his consistent performance has earned him the title of the Indian team’s ‘Hanuman.’

Bumrah has an exceptional talent for turning losing situations into victories. No matter the pressure, he remains calm and composed. When the ball is in his hands, his performance speaks volumes. He knows how to disrupt the opposition’s batting order with his lethal bowling. The significance of Bumrah in the Indian team is undeniable.

India clinched the T20 World Cup 2026 title by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final. Once again, Bumrah shone with his outstanding performance. In the high-pressure final, he bowled four overs, conceding just 15 runs while taking four wickets, including those of Mitchell Santner, Rachin Ravindra, James Neesham, and Matt Henry. Bumrah dismantled New Zealand’s batting lineup, a feat that is not new for him. He became only the third bowler to take four wickets in a T20 World Cup final.

In the semi-final, England appeared to be in control while chasing runs. Bowlers like Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy were being hit hard, and the final seemed out of reach. However, Bumrah came in to bowl the 18th over and completely turned the match around. Set batsmen Jacob Bethell and Sam Curran, who were on the verge of scoring centuries, couldn’t hit a single boundary off Bumrah’s six deliveries. He bowled a series of yorkers, conceding just six runs. This over shifted the momentum, leading to a wicket for India in the next over and ensuring their victory.

Throughout the T20 World Cup 2026, Bumrah played in eight matches and took a total of 14 wickets. Notably, his best performances came against the West Indies, England, and most impressively, in the final against New Zealand. Bumrah has once again demonstrated why 1.4 billion fans trust him implicitly.
