Srinagar, May 17: Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, participated in the self-enumeration initiative for the 2027 Census on Sunday. He urged citizens to actively collaborate in this vital process.
Sinha emphasized that the first phase of the census has commenced, including efforts in Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative is crucial not only for the nation but also for the region and its residents. He encouraged everyone to participate and provide accurate information about their households and family members.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed confidence that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would fully support this national campaign and play a significant role in its success.
In a post on the official X account of the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor’s office, he stated, “I have completed my self-enumeration. This phase involves listing households and housing-related tasks. I urge every family in Jammu and Kashmir to share their information and participate in the census.”
The post further highlighted, “The 2027 Census holds historical significance as it will be India’s first fully digital and paperless census, integrating advanced digital technologies, mobile-based data collection systems, and self-enumeration mechanisms.”
Notably, the 2027 Census will utilize digital methods for the first time, while traditional door-to-door enumeration will continue to ensure comprehensive and accurate coverage. During field visits, enumerators are collecting data digitally through a specialized mobile application.
The newly introduced self-enumeration feature has received an encouraging response from the public. So far, over 14.4 million families have completed self-enumeration through the official portal across 25 states. This initiative marks a significant step towards digitizing census operations, providing residents with a convenient and secure way to participate in the census process.
