Jammu and Kashmir Police File Charges in Job Scam Involving Two Suspects

Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed charges against two individuals in a job scam, revealing a scheme that defrauded unemployed youth.

Jammu, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Economic Offenses Wing has filed a charge sheet against two individuals in connection with a job scam. The accused, Peerzada Abdul Hamid from Anantnag and Munir Hussain from Poonch, are facing charges in a sub-judge court in Jammu.

According to a statement from the police, the case was registered under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code at a police station in Jammu. Both men are alleged to have been part of a fraudulent scheme that promised fake job placements.

The case emerged after Munir Hussain initially filed a complaint against Peerzada Abdul Hamid, claiming he was defrauded under the pretense of securing employment. However, the investigation revealed a more complex scenario. Led by Inspector Meenu Sharma, the probe uncovered that Hussain had colluded with Hamid to deceive unemployed youths, extracting money from them before filing a false complaint to evade responsibility.

The investigation indicated that the duo had swindled approximately 2.5 million rupees from job seekers by luring them with promises of government jobs. Police reported that witness statements and documentary evidence confirmed the alleged involvement of both suspects, leading to the submission of the charge sheet for judicial proceedings.

Senior Superintendent of Police Faisal Qureshi from the Economic Offenses Wing urged the public to remain vigilant against such financial crimes. He encouraged victims of similar scams to report incidents to the Economic Offenses Wing in Jammu. Complaints can be sent via email or by contacting 0191-2578901.

Authorities noted that the Economic Offenses Wing specializes in investigating high-profile financial crimes and complex cases requiring technical scrutiny, while regional police are often occupied with law enforcement and counter-terrorism duties, lacking dedicated teams for such investigations.
