Beirut, May 21: Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon continue unabated, even after a ceasefire announcement. Air drone strikes and artillery shelling are ongoing in several areas.
According to the National News Agency of Lebanon, drone strikes targeted the road connecting the towns of Tora and Janata in the Tyre district. Additionally, artillery fire was reported in the village of Kafr Kila in the Marjayoun district, escalating tensions in the border areas.
Eyewitnesses reported that drones dropped “sound bombs” near farmers close to the village of Al-Hanniyeh, south of Tyre. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties from these attacks.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with Interior Minister Ahmed Hazzar on Thursday. During the meeting, they discussed the country’s security situation and measures being taken to maintain stability.
According to NNA, Minister Hazzar emphasized the need to strengthen border controls and facilitate access through Lebanon’s land, sea, and air routes. The discussions also covered the country’s political activities and current conditions.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Ministry of Health has released casualty figures from the recent attacks in southern Lebanon. They report that the death toll has risen to 14, with three individuals injured.
The ministry described the incident as the “Deir Qanoon al-Nahr massacre.” Deir Qanoon al-Nahr is the name of a location in the Tyre district that was targeted on Tuesday. Reports indicate that 11 members of a single family were killed in this attack, including three children, their parents, and grandparents.
