Tel Aviv, 22 August (Kiran News). Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Thursday that his government will begin immediate talks to end the ongoing two-year war in Gaza and secure the release of all hostages, provided the agreement is acceptable to Israel.

Speaking to soldiers stationed in Gaza, Netanyahu said, “I have given instructions to start immediate talks for the release of hostages and to end the war. We are now at the decision-making stage.” He also made it clear that the army is continuing with its plan to capture Gaza City and defeat Hamas.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army has ordered the mobilization of 60,000 reserve soldiers, indicating that the government is continuing its diplomatic efforts while maintaining military pressure.

Earlier, mediating countries proposed a temporary ceasefire, which Hamas has accepted. This proposal includes a 60-day ceasefire, the release of 10 living hostages and 18 bodies in exchange for Israel releasing around 200 long-term Palestinian prisoners.

However, Israel insists that all 50 hostages present in Gaza should be released at once. Israeli officials estimate that about 20 of these hostages are still alive.
