Tel Aviv, March 1: The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have initiated a new wave of attacks on Tehran, the capital of Iran. Following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, the IDF announced that these strikes are the first since the commencement of Operation ‘Roaring Lion,’ conducted in collaboration with the United States.
In their statement, the IDF emphasized, “For the first time since the start of Operation ‘Roaring Lion,’ the IDF is targeting Iranian terrorist strongholds in the heart of Tehran. Recently, extensive attacks were carried out to pave the way to Tehran.”
According to Tehranian media, explosions were reported in several areas of the city on Sunday morning. Images shared on social media showed large plumes of thick smoke rising from various parts of Tehran.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged Iranian citizens to take to the streets. In a video message, he stated, “In the coming days, we will attack thousands of terrorist strongholds. We will create conditions for the brave people of Iran to break free from the chains of oppression. Therefore, I urge you, citizens of Iran, do not let this opportunity slip away. This is a chance that comes only once in a generation. Do not sit idly, for your moment will soon arrive.”
Netanyahu further added, “That moment when you must come out onto the streets, in millions, to uproot the regime of terror that has soured your lives. Your suffering and sacrifices will not be in vain. The help you have been waiting for has arrived. It is now time to unite for a historic mission. Citizens of Iran, Persians, Kurds, Azerbaijanis, Ahvazis, and Baluchis, now is the time to consolidate your strengths and overthrow the regime to secure your future.”
On the other hand, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran considers retaliating against Israeli and American attacks as its legal right and responsibility. In a statement released on Iranian state media, Pezeshkian remarked that the Supreme Leader Khamenei was killed by the world’s worst enemies.
He asserted, “The Islamic Republic of Iran views avenging this historical crime against the perpetrators and commanders as its responsibility and legal right, and it will fulfill this significant duty with all its strength.”
