Israel Issues Warning to Southern Lebanon Residents Amid Rising Tensions

New Delhi, March 9: The Iran-Israel-U.S. conflict has escalated significantly, leading to heightened tensions in southern Lebanon. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have issued a fresh warning to residents living south of the Litani River.

The IDF stated that ongoing military operations are a direct result of Hezbollah’s activities in the region. They emphasized that proximity to Hezbollah’s positions or weapons poses a serious threat to civilian lives.

In a post on the official social media platform X, the IDF remarked, “Due to Hezbollah’s terrorist activities, the Israel Defense Forces are compelled to operate against the organization in the area. Our intention is not to harm you, but movement towards the south could jeopardize your safety.”

The IDF reiterated, “Attacks are ongoing, and the Israel Defense Forces are operating with considerable strength in the area. We urge you once again to evacuate your homes immediately and head north of the Litani River.”

The warning stressed that anyone near Hezbollah’s operatives, locations, or weapons is putting their life at risk. Residents are advised to relocate to areas north of the river for their safety, as staying south could endanger their lives and those of their families.

Additionally, Israel has threatened any successor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei following his death. The Israeli military stated that after Khamenei’s removal, the Iranian regime is attempting to reorganize and select a new leader. However, Israel intends to target any individual involved in the appointment process of a new leader.

This warning was issued as Iran’s Assembly of Experts is set to convene in Qom, a body responsible for electing the Supreme Leader. This assembly has not met for an extended period, but preparations are underway for discussions regarding the selection of a new leader.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Saturday that Israel has a well-prepared plan to weaken the “Iranian regime” and bring about change. He stated that the objective of this plan is to undermine the current power structure in Iran and create conditions for change.

Addressing the Iranian public, Netanyahu said, “The time for truth is approaching. Our goal is not to break Iran, but to liberate it and live in peace with it.”
