Jerusalem, May 9: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday that they have destroyed a Palestinian Islamic Jihad weapons production site and storage facility in northern Gaza.
The IDF stated, “This site was used for the organization’s production plant as well as for storing additional weapons intended to harm Israeli citizens and soldiers.”
The forces are deployed in the region under the Southern Command.
On the same day, the IDF also targeted a weapons depot and drone launch site that Hezbollah used to launch drones at Israeli forces stationed in southern Lebanon.
According to the IDF’s published war diary, two launchers were attacked that were prepared and loaded for launching in southern Lebanon. One of these launchers had previously targeted Israeli troops, while the other had fired rockets at Israel.
Reports also indicated several incidents involving explosive drones fired by Hezbollah, which landed in Israeli territory near the Lebanese border.
In one incident, a reserve soldier of the IDF was severely injured, while another reserve officer and a soldier sustained minor injuries. The injured soldiers were taken to a hospital, and their families were notified.
The Air Force intercepted several missiles fired by Hezbollah at IDF forces in southern Lebanon, with no casualties reported.
The IDF claimed to have attacked over 85 Hezbollah positions through aerial and ground assaults. The structures targeted included weapons storage facilities, launchers, and buildings used for military purposes.
The IDF also stated on the social media platform X that they raided an underground bunker in the Bekaa Valley, which Hezbollah was using to manufacture weapons aimed at harming IDF personnel and Israeli civilians.
