Israel Claims Major Strike on Tehrans Mehrabad Airport Defense Systems

New Delhi, March 4: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced a significant airstrike on Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, claiming to have destroyed Iranian defense and detection systems. According to Israel, these systems posed a threat to its Air Force aircraft.

The IDF stated that during the tenth wave of attacks guided by intelligence from Tehran, Israeli fighter jets targeted the infrastructure at Mehrabad Airport.

Israel asserts that these defense and detection systems were being used by the Iranian regime and represented a direct risk to Israeli Air Force operations.

The IDF emphasized that its Air Force is focused on undermining all infrastructure associated with the Iranian regime.

Earlier on Wednesday, the IDF reported a historic achievement by its Air Force, revealing that an F-35I Adir stealth fighter jet had successfully shot down an Iranian jet.

In a post on social media platform X, the IDF expressed its excitement, stating, “An Iranian jet has been shot down. The Air Force’s F-35I ‘Adir’ fighter jet successfully downed an Iranian Air Force Yak-130 fighter jet. This marks a historic event where an F-35 ‘Adir’ fighter jet has downed a manned fighter aircraft.”

Typically, Yak-130 aircraft in Tehran are used for training and light combat purposes, but they have been deployed to counter drone and missile threats during the ongoing conflict.

Tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated in recent weeks, with both sides conducting airstrikes and missile attacks on each other’s military installations and air facilities.

Meanwhile, the UAE, troubled by Iranian attacks, successfully intercepted three ballistic missiles using its air defense system today.

The UAE Ministry of Defense reported that its air defense systems detected 129 drones along with the three ballistic missiles on Wednesday, intercepting 121 of them. Eight drones fell within the country’s territory, causing minor damage.
