Tehran, May 4: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) of Iran has released a new map indicating that the Hormuz Strait area is under the control of the Iranian military.
The IRGCN stated that this area begins from a line between Kuh-e-Mobarak in Iran and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. Another line extends from the end of Iran’s Qeshm Island to Umm Al-Quwain in the UAE. However, it remains unclear whether the area of their control has changed or to what extent.
Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, commented on the UAE’s decision to exit the oil producers’ group OPEC. He emphasized that leaving OPEC was not a reaction driven by negativity or revenge against other members.
The spokesperson reiterated Iran’s commitment to its obligations within OPEC. He also accused the UAE of showing improper behavior by assisting Israel and the United States during the conflict against Iran.
Sultan Al-Jaber, CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, previously stated that the UAE’s decision to exit OPEC and OPEC Plus was not directed against anyone but was made in consideration of the country’s interests.
Sardar Mohebi, spokesperson for the IRGC, warned that any vessel violating Tehran’s management process in the Hormuz Strait would be forcibly stopped.
In a statement to Fars News Agency, he affirmed, “There has been no change in the management process of the Strait of Hormuz. Any maritime movement of common and commercial vessels that comply with the transit protocols issued by the IRGCN and follow the designated routes will remain safe and secure.”
