Irans Supreme Leader Representative Discusses Ceasefire and Peace Efforts

New Delhi, April 8: The announcement of a ceasefire in Iran has garnered widespread praise. U.S. President Donald Trump shared this information through an official post on Truth Social. Iran has also expressed a temporary agreement lasting two weeks. Amid changing geopolitical circumstances, several questions are being raised. In an exclusive interview, Dr. Abdul Majid Hakim Ilahi, the representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India, discussed Iran’s perspective and efforts.

Dr. Ilahi stated clearly that Iran did not desire this conflict and has never supported nuclear weapons. He believes the U.S. was compelled to declare a ceasefire, citing several reasons. He remarked, “The U.S. had to announce a ceasefire because they could not continue the war. They made a significant mistake. For the past 41 days, they wanted to stop the war but were unable to do so. Ultimately, when they realized they could not sustain this war and would face further losses, they announced the cessation of hostilities.”

He added, “I believe we have never wanted war. This conflict was imposed on us. Moreover, we realized that many different people from various countries have suffered due to this war, and we did not want that.”

When asked if he believes a ceasefire could lead to a permanent solution, the representative replied, “Yes, if they accept our conditions, this war will come to an end.”

Regarding the U.S. accusation that Iran is engaged in uranium enrichment, Dr. Ilahi recalled his Supreme Leader’s statement: “For over 30 years, our Supreme Leader has clearly stated that nuclear weapons are forbidden by our religion. We do not want them, have never wanted them, and will never want them. This is well known.”

What caused the crisis? Gulf countries have also leveled accusations against Iran. In response, Ilahi stated, “Conflicts and crises in this region began when the U.S. came 7,000 miles away and brought numerous disputes and difficulties. This is the first point. The second point I want to make is that we know the U.S. does not attack us from New York, California, or Washington. Where are the bases used by the U.S. to attack us? They are located in these Arab countries.”

Iran hopes the world understands that meddling in this region can lead to global repercussions. Ilahi expressed optimism that the global crisis will end, stating, “I hope this global crisis will conclude, but other countries must realize that if there is fighting and crisis in the Gulf, they will also suffer. Therefore, they must raise their voices together and prevent any attacks on countries in this region.”
