Irans Diplomat Calls for Global Condemnation Following School Attack

Irans representative urges the world to condemn the school attack that killed 168 children, demanding accountability from the U.S.

New Delhi, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : Abdul Majid Hakim Ilahi, a senior diplomat and representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader, addressed the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi on Friday, highlighting the lack of an apology from the United States for a tragic attack on a primary school in Iran. This incident, which occurred on February 28, resulted in the deaths of 168 children, with some bodies still unaccounted for.

During the session titled “A Region in Flux: Who Will Shape the Middle East’s Future?”, Ilahi called on the international community to condemn the attack and prevent similar incidents in the future. He lamented, “Our country has faced numerous crises. People around the world suffer due to wars instigated by certain nations.”

Ilahi detailed the heartbreaking aftermath of the attack on the Shajare Tayebeh School in Minab, where over 160 children lost their lives. He expressed the pain of parents who still mourn without graves to visit, stating, “Today, some children’s bodies have not been found, and their parents are still grieving.”

With the new academic year starting in October, Ilahi noted the absence of these children in schools, emphasizing the ongoing sorrow in their communities. He criticized the U.S. for not taking responsibility for the attack and mentioned a United Nations committee that reported 125 fatalities from the incident.

He urged all advocates for human rights to denounce such tragedies, regardless of where they occur. Additionally, Ilahi addressed speculation regarding the health of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, asserting that he is in good health and actively fulfilling his duties.

Ilahi referenced a recent seven-hour meeting between Khamenei and the Iranian president, as well as interactions with parliamentary leaders, reinforcing that Khamenei remains engaged in his role. He also highlighted Khamenei’s participation in public events, including the farewell of his father.

In a related discussion, Abdullah Abu Shawesh, the Palestinian ambassador in India, spoke about the ongoing violence faced by Palestine, describing it as a genocide supported by the U.S. through military and political backing. He criticized the U.S. for using its veto power in the United Nations to obstruct efforts to halt violence in Gaza.
