Irans Defense Minister Claims Attacks on US Bases Are Self-Defense

Tehran, March 8: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that attacks on American military bases in the Middle East are part of the country’s right to self-defense. He emphasized that this war is not of Iran’s choosing but has been imposed by the United States and Israel.

In an interview with NBC News, Araghchi remarked, “This is not a war we have chosen. It is a war that America and Israel have forced upon us.” He characterized the conflict as “unprovoked, unjust, and illegal.”

According to the Iranian Foreign Minister, Iran’s military response is targeting American military installations. He mentioned on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” “The Americans started this war against us, attacked us, and we are defending ourselves. Our missiles cannot reach America. Therefore, we are doing what we can.”

He further stated, “What we can do is attack the nearby American bases and installations, which unfortunately are located on the soil of our neighboring countries.”

These comments came a day after President Masoud Pagejskiyan’s statement, where he referenced relations with Gulf countries, asserting that Iran would not attack them unless their territory is used to target Iran.

In response, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Pagejskiyan’s remarks, suggesting they were made under pressure from U.S.-Israeli interests. Trump also labeled Iran as a “loser” in a post on Truth Post.

Trump claimed that Iran has bowed to its neighboring countries. He stated, “Iran has been severely beaten in this conflict. It has apologized and surrendered to its Middle Eastern neighbors, promising not to fire upon them again.”

According to Trump, “This promise was made solely due to the continuous attacks from the U.S. and Israel. Iran wanted to dominate the Middle East. For the first time in thousands of years, Iran has been defeated by its neighboring Middle Eastern countries.”

The U.S. President asserted that Gulf nations thanked him for Iran’s concession, stating that they expressed gratitude with “Thank you, President Trump,” to which he replied, “You’re welcome!”

Trump concluded that Iran will no longer “threaten the Middle East” but will remain “losers” for decades until they either surrender or are completely eliminated.
