
New Delhi, May 14: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has departed for New Delhi to participate in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting. During his visit, he will engage in bilateral discussions with officials from various countries.
According to information shared on the official ‘X’ account of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s government, Araghchi is set to attend the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting. This visit comes ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit, which India will host later this year.
Iran hopes to discuss regional stability, multilateral cooperation, and economic resilience during this trip, meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and other counterparts.
Guests from different countries have arrived in India for the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting, and they were warmly welcomed upon their arrival.
During this time, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, shared images on ‘X’, highlighting the warm welcome extended to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who also arrived in New Delhi for the meeting.
Before the meeting, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with Brazil’s Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Maldives’ Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam. These discussions focused on bilateral, regional, and global issues, as well as cooperation regarding India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and BRICS presidency.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the arrival of the foreign ministers at Bharat Mandapam is scheduled for 10 AM on May 14. The first session will commence at 10:30 AM, followed by a joint meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at ‘Seva Teerth’ at 1 PM.
The second session will begin at 3:10 PM, and later that evening, at 7 PM, Dr. S. Jaishankar will host a dinner at Bharat Mandapam. The following day, May 15, the third session will start at 10 AM.
