Tehran, March 1: The chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces, Abdul Rahim Mousavi, has been killed in attacks carried out by the United States and Israel. This information was reported by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) on Sunday.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the strikes also resulted in the deaths of Major General Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Secretary of the National Security Council Ali Shamkhani, and Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh. This incident has significantly heightened tensions across the Middle East.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the operation was executed by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) after military intelligence identified two locations in Tehran where high-ranking Iranian security officials were gathered.
In response, the IRGC vowed to punish those responsible for the deaths following the confirmation of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s demise by state television. They promised to launch the most aggressive campaign in history against the United States and Israel.
In a statement released on their official Telegram page, the IRGC declared, “We will not spare the killers of Khamenei.” The IRGC, along with the armed forces and Basij forces, will steadfastly continue to defend the legacy of their leader, stand firm against internal and external conspiracies, and deliver punishment to those who commit aggression against the Islamic homeland.
