Tehran, April 5: A senior Iranian commander has issued a stark warning that if the United States or Israel attacks Iran’s infrastructure, it will respond with “devastating and continuous” strikes on all American military bases and Israeli infrastructure in the region.
The statement came from Ali Abdollahi, the commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters. This warning coincides with the expiration of a 10-day deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which is set to end on Monday.
Abdollahi stated, “After continuously accepting defeat, the aggressive and war-mongering president of the United States has taken a desperate, panicked, unbalanced, and foolish step by threatening to target Iran’s infrastructure and national assets.”
He emphasized that the Iranian armed forces would not hesitate “for a moment” to defend the country’s rights and protect national assets, vowing to show “the attackers their place.”
On social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Remember when I gave Iran ten days to negotiate or open the Strait of Hormuz,” adding, “Time is running out, and there are 48 hours left before they face wrath.”
On March 21, Trump warned that if Iran did not fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, he would “destroy and devastate” its power plants. However, two days later, following “positive discussions” with Tehran, he postponed the attacks for five days, only to later extend the deadline again.
Meanwhile, Iran’s IRGC Navy announced that it had targeted an Israeli-linked vessel with a drone, igniting a fire on board. In a statement released through its official news outlet, Sepah News, the IRGC confirmed the attack, stating that its forces targeted an Israeli-owned commercial ship at a port in Bahrain.
The semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that Iran has allowed ships carrying essential and humanitarian goods to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to its ports.
These developments come amid heightened tensions in the region following joint U.S.-Israel attacks that began on February 28, to which Iran and its regional allies have responded with attacks on Israeli and American interests in the Middle East.
