Iran Reviews US Proposal to End Conflict, Says Foreign Ministry Spokesperson

Tehran, May 4: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ismail Baghaei, announced that Iranian officials are currently reviewing a proposal from the United States aimed at halting hostilities between the two nations.

Baghaei stated to the media, “The message from the US was received through Pakistan, and I will not discuss the specifics of the issues raised at this time, as they are still under review.” He criticized the US for its tendency to make excessive and unreasonable demands, noting that reviewing the proposal is not a straightforward task.

He further commented that news reports regarding discussions about Iran’s nuclear program are largely speculative. “The issues raised concerning nuclear enrichment or materials are entirely based on assumptions. At this moment, we are focused solely on stopping the war, and future directions will be determined later,” he added.

Additionally, Iran issued a stern warning to the US military against entering the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian military command stated that any foreign armed forces, particularly the aggressive US military, would be attacked if they attempted to approach or enter the strait.

This warning comes as the US announced plans to commence an operation on Monday to rescue vessels stranded in the waterway. According to Xinhua News Agency, the objective of this initiative is to restore freedom of navigation in the region.

Separately, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, spoke with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, over the phone. The two leaders discussed the current situation between the US and Iran and Pakistan’s efforts to promote stability.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry shared on social media that Deputy Prime Minister Dar and Foreign Minister Zarif discussed ongoing diplomatic efforts to enhance peace and stability in the region. The statement highlighted Iran’s appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive role and sincere mediation attempts among the involved parties.
