New Delhi, May 6: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, commended China’s four-point peace proposal during discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing. The meeting focused on regional peace, stability, and cooperation between the two nations.
Araghchi took to the social media platform ‘X’ to share insights from the constructive dialogue, stating, “I reaffirmed Iran’s right to defend its national sovereignty and dignity.”
He expressed appreciation for China’s proposal aimed at maintaining and promoting regional peace and stability. Araghchi emphasized Iran’s trust in China and its hope that China will continue to play a positive role in fostering peace and preventing war. He also supported the establishment of a new regional order that balances development and security post-conflict.
Wang Yi labeled military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran as “illegal,” stressing the urgent need for a ceasefire in the region. According to China’s Foreign Ministry, Wang noted that West Asia stands at a “decisive turning point,” and a comprehensive ceasefire is essential for regional stability.
As tensions rise in the area, diplomatic efforts have intensified. This comes as U.S. President Donald Trump announced a halt to the “Project Freedom,” citing requests from Pakistan and other nations, while also considering the progress towards a potential peace agreement with Iran.
