On Tuesday, at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, Samson not only secured a victory for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against the Delhi Capitals (DC) but also propelled his team up the points table.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 155 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Chasing a target of 156 runs, CSK found themselves in a precarious position at 45 runs for 2 wickets. However, Samson, alongside young batsman Karthik Sharma, ensured that DC could not claim any further wickets. They led CSK to a comfortable victory, finishing at 159 runs for 2 wickets in just 17.3 overs. Samson remained unbeaten with a stellar 87 runs off 52 balls, including 6 sixes and 7 fours, while Sharma contributed 41 runs off 31 balls with 2 sixes and 4 fours. Their unbeaten partnership of 114 runs was the match-winning highlight. With this win, CSK has now moved ahead of DC, leaving them 2 points behind. Both teams had started the match with 8 points each, but CSK now holds 10 points. Samson was named Player of the Match.
