IPL 2026: Rehan Ahmed Joins Delhi Capitals as Ben Ducketts Replacement

New Delhi, April 23: The Delhi Capitals (DC) have signed England’s Rehan Ahmed to replace Ben Duckett for the remaining matches of IPL 2026. Rehan has joined the team for ₹75 lakhs.

Notably, Duckett withdrew from the IPL to focus on his career after a disappointing performance in the Ashes series. At that time, the Delhi Capitals did not announce a replacement for him.

The 21-year-old Rehan Ahmed is known for his spin bowling and his ability to contribute with the bat. He has played 13 T20 International matches for England, taking 15 wickets at an economy rate of 9.50. With the bat, he has scored 74 runs at a strike rate of 142. Additionally, he has participated in 9 One Day Internationals and 5 Test matches, claiming 12 wickets in ODIs and 22 in Tests.

Under the leadership of Axar Patel, the Delhi Capitals have had a mixed performance in IPL 2026. The team has played a total of 6 matches this season, winning 3 and losing 3. In their last match, they faced a 47-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Batting first, Sunrisers scored 242 runs for 2 wickets in 20 overs, while DC managed only 195 runs after losing 9 wickets.

In bowling, Lungi Ngidi, Mukesh Kumar, and T Natarajan struggled, while batsmen KL Rahul and Sameer Rizvi failed to capitalize on good starts. Rahul scored 37 runs off 23 balls before getting out, while Rizvi, despite staying at the crease, could only manage 41 runs off 28 balls. Other batsmen like Pathum Nissanka, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, and Ashutosh Sharma also underperformed.
