Prabhsimran Singh, a batsman for Punjab Kings, made history by hitting six fours in a single over bowled by Mukesh Kumar. He became only the third player in IPL history to achieve this remarkable feat.
Before Prabhsimran, only Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw had managed to hit six fours in an over. Rahane accomplished this in 2012 against S. Arvind of Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Shaw achieved it in IPL 2021 against Shivam Mavi. Prabhsimran’s six fours came in the sixth over of Punjab’s innings. He played a spectacular innings, scoring 76 runs off just 26 balls, including 9 fours and 5 sixes.
Prabhsimran reached his half-century in just 18 balls, making him the fourth fastest player to achieve this milestone for Punjab Kings in the league. The record for the fastest half-century belongs to KL Rahul, who scored his fifty in just 14 balls in 2018.
He partnered with Priyansh Arya to put together a staggering 126-run partnership for the first wicket in just 6.5 overs. Thanks to their explosive batting, Punjab Kings amassed 116 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket, marking the second-highest score in IPL history for a powerplay. They crossed the 100-run mark in just 5.2 overs, with Prabhsimran ranking fifth among the highest run-scorers in powerplay overs. He scored 71 runs off 23 balls during this phase.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals scored 264 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their 20 overs. KL Rahul delivered an extraordinary performance, scoring 152 runs off 67 balls, while Nitish Rana contributed 91 runs off 44 balls. The duo set a record for the second-highest partnership in IPL history, adding 220 runs for the second wicket.
