
Hyderabad, December 3 – IndiGo cancelled 40 flights at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday due to large-scale operational disruptions.
An airport spokesperson confirmed that by 7 PM on December 3, 19 departure flights and 21 arrival flights were cancelled.
RGIA issued an advisory on social media platforms stating, “We are aware that some flights at RGIA are experiencing delays and schedule changes due to operational reasons. Our teams at the airport are working with airlines to assist in their operations and are providing timely information and guidance to passengers.”
The advisory further stated, “Operations at RGIA are normal. Passengers are advised to check the latest status of their flights with their respective airlines before coming to the airport. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
A total of 54 flights have been cancelled over two days. According to airport sources, nine departures and five arrivals were cancelled on Tuesday, December 2.
On Wednesday, flights arriving from Visakhapatnam, Goa, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Madurai, Hubli, Bhopal and Bhubaneswar were cancelled. Flights to destinations including Delhi, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Hubli and Bhopal were also cancelled.
Earlier on Tuesday, flights from Raipur, Coimbatore, Udaipur, Ahmedabad and Goa were cancelled. Similarly, flights to Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Raipur, Udaipur, Goa, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam were also cancelled.
Additionally, nine flights to destinations like Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Goa, Mumbai and Ahmedabad were delayed on Tuesday.
Due to flight cancellations and delays, many passengers were stranded at the airport. Passengers travelling to specific domestic destinations for connecting international flights were most affected.
Ayyappa devotees also faced difficulties due to flight cancellations and delays. Devotees who had booked tickets for the Hyderabad-Kochi IndiGo flight were stranded due to delays.
One devotee reported that airline staff provided no response to their queries about ticket refunds. Devotees said the delays disrupted their plans as they had booked tickets for ‘darshan’ at Sabarimala.
