Varanasi, May 11: GI expert Padma Shri Dr. Rajnikant has endorsed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and the adoption of indigenous products. He stated that the Prime Minister’s appeal is both emotional and visionary. Furthermore, he believes that indigenous and GI products will elevate India to a global economic powerhouse.
In a conversation, Dr. Rajnikant emphasized, “The production of fuel is not sufficient in the country. Fuel is linked to many other aspects. Therefore, the Prime Minister’s message encourages self-reliance, controlling foreign currency, exporting Indian products worldwide, and providing employment to youth and women.”
He added, “India has a rich historical background. Organic farming has been practiced here for ages. Shri Anna (millets), jowar, bajra, ginger, lemon, and turmeric have a global market. Their prices are quite favorable in international markets, and these crops require minimal fertilizer. Farmers can contribute to self-reliance for themselves and India by cultivating these crops.”
Dr. Rajnikant noted, “GI products and Indian handicrafts are becoming the economic strength of the country. The global recognition of India’s traditional arts and culture has increased. The demand and prices for Banaras pink meenakari, Bhadohi carpets, and northeastern bamboo products are quite good abroad. Handloom and handmade products are also in high demand internationally.”
The Prime Minister has urged the adoption of indigenous goods. In response, Dr. Rajnikant remarked, “Indian products are widely available across the globe. The ‘One District, One Product’ scheme has proven to be a game changer for the rural economy. The ‘One Family, One Entrepreneur’ model will strengthen the foundation of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Utilizing indigenous goods and exporting them to other countries will bring significant benefits to the nation.”
