Indian Minister to Participate Virtually in Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa

New Delhi, May 9: Jacqueline Mukangira, the High Commissioner of Rwanda in India, met with Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Saturday. During their meeting, she extended an invitation from the President of Rwanda for Singh to participate in the upcoming Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA 2026).

Jitendra Singh expressed his gratitude for the invitation on the social media platform X. He announced that the summit is scheduled to take place from May 18 to 21, 2026, in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.

While Singh expressed regret over not being able to attend in person, he confirmed his participation through a virtual platform to address the scheduled sessions.

He noted that the High Commissioner and her team showed a keen interest in expanding scientific and technological cooperation with India. They also expressed a desire to strengthen partnerships with Indian institutions.

India has consistently emphasized enhancing collaboration with African nations in the fields of science, health, digital technology, and energy. The country has previously partnered with African nations in areas such as capacity building, digital public infrastructure, space science, and nuclear energy.

The NEISA 2026 summit is poised to become a crucial platform for discussing future strategies regarding clean energy, nuclear technology, and energy security in Africa. Policymakers, scientists, investors, and global representatives from the energy sector are expected to participate.

In recent years, bilateral relations between India and Rwanda have seen continuous expansion. Both countries are actively working to enhance cooperation in health, education, agriculture, digital innovation, and emerging technologies.
