Ekta Bishnoi made history by winning three gold medals at the World Masters Classic Powerlifting Championship in Reno, USA.

Reno, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : Indian Revenue Service officer Ekta Bishnoi showcased her remarkable strength at the World Masters Classic Powerlifting Championship held in Reno, USA, where she secured three gold medals. Bishnoi lifted a total of 362.5 kilograms, outpacing formidable competitors from Japan and Canada. With this achievement, she became the first Indian woman to win gold in the Masters-2 category of this championship.
Balancing her high-stakes responsibilities as an IRS officer, Ekta has also committed to rigorous powerlifting training. Just before the tournament, the Indian team faced a setback when their coach, Sunil Kumar, had his US visa application rejected. Instead of succumbing to the challenges, Ekta adapted quickly. She received constant guidance from her coach via video calls while team official Binu Ibrahim provided on-ground support.
Thanks to this teamwork and strategic preparation, Ekta made history by clinching the gold medal. Reflecting on their strategy, Coach Sunil explained that they adopted a scientific and results-oriented coaching approach, which facilitated effective decision-making and enhanced performance during the competition. He noted, “Our strategy was clear. By the end of the squat event, we had built a decisive 20-kilogram lead over our closest competitor. Ekta successfully maintained this crucial advantage through the bench press event. Ultimately, with a successful initial deadlift of 150 kilograms, she secured a historic gold medal for India.”
Ekta trains under Coach Sunil’s supervision at the Netaji Gym in New Delhi. Her partner, Ajay Tomar, expressed pride in her achievement, stating, “Our preparation was thorough leading up to the World Championship. Our sole goal was to win the gold medal for our motherland, India.”
