Indian Embassy Assures Citizens of Support Amidst Tensions in Saudi Arabia

New Delhi, March 8: The Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Suhail Ajaz Khan, held a virtual meeting today with representatives from the Indian community across various regions of the country. During the discussion, he assured the community that the embassy is ready to provide all possible assistance to Indian citizens.

The Indian Embassy shared information on social media, stating, “Ambassador Dr. Suhail Ajaz Khan, along with DCM Abu Mathen George and Counselor (CW) Y. Sabir, engaged in a virtual conversation with representatives from different areas and provinces.”

During this meeting, the Ambassador emphasized the embassy’s commitment to offering essential support to Indian citizens. He also informed participants about recent initiatives, including the establishment of a 24/7 control room for immediate assistance. Community representatives praised the embassy for its proactive outreach and engagement.

Just a day prior, reports emerged of an Indian citizen being arrested in Saudi Arabia as an alleged agent of Israel’s Mossad. The Indian government dismissed these claims as completely false and misleading.

In response to the viral claims on social media, the Ministry of External Affairs issued an official clarification on Saturday, urging people to be cautious of such rumors.

A post circulating rapidly on the social media platform ‘X’ claimed that Saudi security agencies had arrested two agents linked to Mossad, one of whom was an Indian citizen. The post also alleged that these agents were plotting bomb attacks to frame Iran.

However, the Ministry of External Affairs labeled these claims as entirely baseless and fabricated. In its statement, the ministry advised, “Be wary of such absurd and unfounded claims circulating on social media.”

According to government officials, this claim is part of a larger wave of misinformation spreading amid rising tensions in West Asia. Officials clarified that there is no credible information or official confirmation regarding the arrest of any Indian citizen in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia also warned Iran to avoid “misleading calculations.” On Saturday, Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman Al Saud cautioned Iran to steer clear of “misleading calculations,” as regional tensions continue to escalate amidst growing conflicts in West Asia.

After the meeting, the Saudi minister expressed hope that Iran would act with “wisdom and prudence” and refrain from actions that could further inflame the already volatile situation.

In another development, Saudi Arabia reported that its air defense system successfully intercepted another attack. A ballistic missile aimed at a military base southeast of Riyadh was destroyed before it could reach its target.
