Indian Companies Plan Over ₹11 Lakh Crore Capital Investment for FY 2026: Government

New Delhi, March 24: The government announced on Monday that Indian companies, collectively known as India Inc., have laid out plans for capital investments exceeding ₹11 lakh crore in the fiscal year 2025-26. This reflects a strong investment trend in the private corporate sector.

According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) between October and December 2025, the total estimated capital expenditure (capex) for FY 2026 is approximately ₹11.44 lakh crore.

The government indicated that companies are effectively implementing their investment plans. In FY 2024-25, the actual capex per company was ₹173.5 crore, compared to a planned ₹180.2 crore, achieving about 96.3% of the target, which demonstrates robust execution.

Strategically, around 48.63% of companies are investing in core assets for FY 2026, while 38.36% are focusing on enhancing the value of existing assets. Nearly 60.13% of companies aim to increase income through capex, followed closely by a focus on capacity expansion.

In terms of funding, most companies rely on internal resources, accounting for 65.35% of total capex. Domestic loans contribute 23.25%, while equity and foreign investments make up a smaller share.

Looking ahead, companies have planned approximately ₹9.55 lakh crore in capex for FY 2027.

The National Statistical Office (NSO) notes that such estimates are typically conservative, suggesting that the investment climate may remain strong going forward.

This survey includes major private companies across various industries to help understand investment trends for policy-making and strategic planning.

Additionally, companies are also focusing on new technologies and green energy. About 6.62% of investments are directed towards renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and biomass, while 5.83% of investments in the manufacturing sector are allocated to robotic equipment, with a total of 2.83% invested in robotics overall.
