
Gothenburg, May 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community in Gothenburg, Sweden, during a Bengali cultural event and Bharatanatyam performance on Sunday.
PM Modi praised the vibrant display of Bengali culture, stating on social media platform X, “Bengali culture is popular worldwide, and Sweden is no exception. The community welcome event, attended by Prime Minister Kristersson, showcased the richness of Bengali culture.” He also shared glimpses of the cultural program.
The Indian community in Gothenburg was thrilled to see PM Modi, reflecting his remarkable popularity even in Sweden. Many traveled from afar just to catch a glimpse of him.
One community member expressed excitement, saying, “We were thrilled. We didn’t expect him to come so close to us. When he got out of the car and walked towards where we were standing, it was a huge surprise. It was an exhilarating experience to meet him personally.”
A woman from the Bengali community shared that PM Modi seemed very pleased with their performance. After their presentation, he asked in Bengali, “Bhalo achen?” (Are you well?). “Hearing that gave me goosebumps,” she recalled.
