Indian Armed Forces Commemorate Operation Sindoor with 88-Hour Memorial Run

New Delhi, May 11: The Indian Armed Forces successfully targeted terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir last year. Under Operation Sindoor, this mission lasted approximately 88 hours, showcasing extensive strategy and military impact.

To mark the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force organized the ‘Operation Sindoor – 88-Hour Memorial Run’ from May 7 to May 10 in New Delhi. This special event celebrated the successful air operations conducted over 88 hours by the Indian Air Force.

According to the Ministry of Defense, these operations demonstrated the Indian Air Force’s precision and decisive strike capabilities. The continuous relay run lasted 88 hours and involved a total of 600 runners, including personnel from the Indian Air Force, the Indian Army, and civilian volunteers. Enthusiastic participation came from various commands of the Indian Air Force.

The active involvement of civilian volunteers further inspired the event. The run commenced on May 7, 2026, at 1:05 AM from India Gate, coinciding with the time when attacks were launched on terrorist positions last year. The event was flagged off by the responsible air officer. On May 10, 2026, at 5 PM, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh welcomed the runners at the Air Force Station in New Delhi, marking the conclusion of the event.

The route of the run passed through several prominent locations in Delhi, including India Gate, Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh Marg, Air Force Headquarters, Nehru Park, and New Moti Bagh Road. The local administration provided significant support throughout the event, ensuring its smooth execution. According to the Indian Air Force, the primary objective of this event was to strengthen unity and team spirit among Air Force personnel while also enhancing awareness and trust in the Indian Armed Forces among the general public.

On the morning of May 10, the Indian Air Force Jazz Band performed live at Nehru Park. This performance, which ran from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM, filled attendees with patriotic fervor and energized the atmosphere. The Indian Air Force stated that the ‘Operation Sindoor – 88-Hour Memorial Run’ was not merely a commemoration of a military achievement but also a symbol of strong collaboration, discipline, dedication, and national pride between the military and civil society.
