New Delhi, May 6: India is taking significant steps to promote yoga in Saudi Arabia. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh recently held an important meeting with Ahmed Al Sadi, CEO of the Saudi Yoga Committee, and representatives from the Saudi Ministry of Sports.
During this meeting, discussions centered on preparations for the upcoming International Yoga Day 2026 and enhancing collaboration to promote yoga and overall health in Saudi Arabia.
The Indian Embassy shared on the social media platform ‘X’ that the meeting was highly positive and productive. Emphasis was placed on joint efforts to spread yoga and bring balance to people’s lives. This initiative involves the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of AYUSH, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), and the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY).
International Yoga Day is celebrated annually on June 21. It was initiated in 2014 following a proposal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which received unanimous support from 177 member countries of the United Nations. Today, this day has evolved into a major global campaign to raise awareness of the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga.
The significance of Yoga Day extends beyond health; it also addresses challenges associated with modern lifestyles.
