
Mumbai, April 12: On Saturday, India successfully delivered over 5.23 million LPG cylinders, confirming that the country’s supply is sufficient. The central government reported that there have been no shortages from any distributors.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that the rollout of PNG connections is progressing rapidly. Since March 2026, more than 424,000 PNG connections have been activated, with over 466,000 new customers registered.
To support migrant workers, oil distribution companies are conducting awareness campaigns to provide 5 kg LPG cylinders. In the past eight days, over 3,300 awareness camps have been organized, resulting in the sale of 35,800 five-kilogram cylinders.
On Saturday alone, more than 100,000 5 kg LPG cylinders were sold, significantly exceeding the average of 77,000 in February 2026. Since March 23, over 1.3 million 5 kg LPG cylinders have been sold.
The ministry noted that the supply of commercial LPG remains at 70% of pre-war levels, which includes a 10% improvement in allocations. Since March 14, 2026, a total of 120,898 metric tons of commercial LPG has been sold, equivalent to over 6.36 million 19 kg LPG cylinders.
Additionally, the ministry confirmed that all refineries are operating at full capacity with sufficient crude oil reserves, while maintaining adequate stocks of petrol and diesel. LPG production has been increased to meet domestic consumption needs.
