Imtiaz Ali Celebrates Success of Dhurandhar as Audiences Flock to Theaters

Mumbai, April 9: Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller film ‘Dhurandhar’ is making waves, captivating audiences since its release. The film has drawn viewers back to cinemas, setting new box office records.

Director Imtiaz Ali recently expressed his happiness about the film’s success in an exclusive interview. He stated that ‘Dhurandhar’ is one of those films that attract audiences to the cinema.

Imtiaz noted that the film has brought people closer to theaters. He remarked, “We are coming closer to each other, and I am very happy about that.”

As a filmmaker, Imtiaz finds joy when a film performs well, especially when audiences choose to watch it in theaters repeatedly. He believes that it is the viewers who decide what kind of cinema they want to see. “I don’t think the success of one type of film hinders another,” he added.

He reminisced, “Throughout my life, I have heard people say that love stories won’t work, children’s films won’t succeed, or action films won’t be popular.”

Imtiaz recalled the skepticism surrounding the release of ‘Sholay’, where many predicted it would fail. Similar doubts were voiced about ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Saiyara’, with concerns that love stories featuring new actors wouldn’t resonate.

“The truth is that people are always in search of good cinema. When a good film succeeds, it brings joy to every filmmaker. Thank God ‘Dhurandhar’ has done well. This means that people are still connected to the experience of watching films in theaters,” he concluded.
