New Delhi, March 8: Our body comprises various metals. According to Ayurveda, it consists of seven dhatus: Rasa Dhatu, Rakta Dhatu, Mamsa Dhatu, Meda Dhatu, Asthi Dhatu, Majja Dhatu, and Shukra Dhatu. These seven dhatus work together to maintain balance in the body. However, an imbalance in one dhatu can lead to various health issues. Today, we will explore the imbalance of Rasa Dhatu.
In Ayurveda, Rasa Dhatu is the first of the seven dhatus, scientifically known as plasma. Simply put, Rasa Dhatu refers to the essence formed from digested food within the body. This essence is rich in nutrients, providing energy and vitality. It nourishes cells, offering them sustenance, energy, and cooling properties. Its qualities are cool, heavy, and smooth, and a deficiency can lead to numerous health problems.
Rasa Dhatu is found in the heart, arteries, cells, skin, and lymphatic system. Its primary role is to nourish the entire body and rejuvenate it. Maintaining a balance of Rasa Dhatu is crucial. It becomes imbalanced when the quantity of Kapha dosha increases, leading to symptoms such as swelling in body parts, impurities in the blood, sluggish digestion, frequent thirst, weakness, and dry mouth. Initially, symptoms may be mild, but severe deficiencies can have dire consequences. It is essential to consult a physician if symptoms arise.
If there is a deficiency of Rasa Dhatu, Ayurveda suggests several remedies. To replenish Rasa Dhatu, consuming fresh fruits is highly recommended. Fruits like pomegranate, papaya, apples, and citrus fruits are beneficial. Additionally, drinking cumin water and coconut water is also advised for recovery.
