New Delhi, August 12: On the occasion of Independence Day, ‘Vande Mataram‘ will be sung for the first time from the historic Red Fort. Prime Minister Modi will lead the main ceremony from this iconic location. BJP leaders have declared this moment to be significant for the nation.
Senior BJP leader Ashwini Choubey expressed his belief that under the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Developed India’, this collective rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ on August 15 will be a historic event.
He stated that just as people pay tribute to their ancestors by offering water, singing ‘Vande Mataram’ will honor all the martyrs and those who contributed to the country’s freedom. This will be a memorable moment in history.
BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal responded to SP MP Ramji Lal Suman‘s opposition to the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’. He questioned, “Who listens to what Ramji Lal Suman says? This has already been passed in the Lok Sabha. If there were objections, why didn’t he raise them in the Lok Sabha? The Congress boycotts the Lok Sabha, silently allows the proposal for ‘Vande Mataram’ to pass, and then makes separate statements due to vote-bank politics. We do not take their statements seriously. Singing ‘Vande Mataram’ from the Red Fort is a matter of pride for the nation.”
BJP leader Shrikant Panditrao emphasized that our soldiers sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom. The lyrics of this song instill a strong sense of patriotism and national pride among the youth. He remarked, “If such a song is sung from the Red Fort on August 15, imagine how powerfully the flame of patriotism will spread among millions across the country.”
In response to opposition protests, he noted that it seems the opposition has no real issues left to raise. He expressed confusion over Congress’s stance, stating, “By opposing ‘Vande Mataram’, you are actually opposing the spirit of patriotism in the country. ‘Vande Mataram’ is not just an ordinary song from a film. If it is not accepted in madrasas, then not only the government but the common people of Maharashtra will also not accept it. They will have to face the consequences.”
