New Delhi, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : The Hindu Sena, a right-wing organization, has called for the revocation of the Padma Shri award given to former Vice President Hamid Ansari. This demand follows Ansari’s recent comments criticizing “Hindu right-wing communalism.” The group accuses him of making anti-Hindu statements and compromising national security.
In a letter addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Hindu Sena condemned Ansari’s public remarks, which they claim target the majority Hindu community and right-wing ideologies. They argue that such statements tarnish India’s image on international platforms and disrupt social harmony.
The letter states, “Despite holding the highest constitutional positions in the country, former Vice President Hamid Ansari has repeatedly made statements and taken actions during and after his tenure that raise serious questions about India’s national security, sovereignty, and cultural fabric.”
Vishnu Gupta, the national president of Hindu Sena, expressed deep concern over Ansari’s past behavior and recent public statements. He emphasized that continuing to honor Ansari undermines the dignity of national awards.
The Hindu Sena further asserted that prestigious awards like the Padma Shri should be reserved for individuals demonstrating unwavering dedication to the country. They believe such honors should not be bestowed upon those facing serious allegations of anti-national activities.
Gupta concluded by stating that given the serious allegations regarding national security and the repeated targeting of the Hindu community, Ansari has lost the moral right to retain one of India’s highest civilian honors. The organization has urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to promptly revoke his Padma Shri award and initiate a high-level inquiry into these matters.
