Himanta Biswa Sarma to Take Oath as Assam Chief Minister Again on May 12

Guwahati, May 12: Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to take the oath of office as the Chief Minister of Assam for the second time. The oath-taking ceremony will take place on Tuesday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Before the ceremony, Sarma announced the names of the ministers who will join his new government on the social media platform ‘X’. Alongside him, four leaders will take the oath as ministers: Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro, and Ajanta Niyog.

Sarma also revealed that Ranjit Das will be the candidate for the Speaker position in the Assam Legislative Assembly. He congratulated all the leaders and expressed confidence that the new team will work with full commitment to build a strong, developed, and prosperous Assam.

In his post on ‘X’, Sarma expressed his delight in announcing that his four colleagues will take the oath of office in the esteemed presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He reiterated his congratulations and well wishes, emphasizing their collective dedication to a stronger and more prosperous Assam.

The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 11 AM on Tuesday at the sports ground of the Veterinary College located in the Khanapara area of Guwahati.

Prominent figures expected to attend include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, former BJP President J.P. Nadda, and several central ministers and chief ministers from NDA-ruled states.

Following a resounding victory in the recent Assam Assembly elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP, is set to secure a significant win. The NDA won 102 seats in the 126-member assembly, with the BJP alone claiming 82 seats.
