Shimla, August 30: The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhu, announced on Sunday that the government is working to provide state-of-the-art diagnostic services in all medical colleges across the state.
Modern equipment worth approximately ₹500 crores is being installed in these institutions. Currently, such advanced machines are only available at AIIMS in Delhi. Facilities of this caliber are not yet present in AIIMS Bilaspur or in cities like Ludhiana and Jalandhar in Punjab.
While inaugurating a public health camp in the Nadaun assembly constituency, CM Sukhu emphasized that the introduction of modern technology and equipment in medical colleges will strengthen and enhance the accuracy of diagnostic services. This will enable timely and appropriate treatment for the public.
In addition to the medical colleges, the government is also appointing specialist doctors in all 70 model medical institutions to ensure better healthcare services are available close to residents’ homes.
The Chief Minister stated that the government plans to recruit 300 medical officers, 200 specialist doctors, and 150 super-specialist doctors. Doctors have already been appointed in hospitals in Nadaun, Kangoo, Gaylor, and Dhanehta as part of this initiative.
CM Sukhu mentioned that the inauguration of Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College in Jolasappar will take place soon. This will house the first of its kind Allied Health Sciences institute in North India. The Vice-Chancellor has been instructed to ensure that admissions begin this year, with training for allied health sciences professionals being conducted in Hamirpur.
The Chief Minister urged local residents to take full advantage of the public health camp, stating that similar camps will soon be organized in Nadaun and other parts of Hamirpur.
Additionally, he announced that the senior secondary school in Kangoo has been selected as a Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School. A new building will be constructed, providing students with modern educational facilities.
Sukhu reiterated that despite challenging economic conditions, the state is moving towards self-reliance. He assured that there will be no shortage of funding for crucial sectors such as health and education.
