Chennai, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : The Meteorological Department has forecasted moderate rainfall across several districts in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. Over the next two days, heavy rains are expected in Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and Theni.
Light to moderate rain may occur in Chennai during the evening or night. However, this rainfall is anticipated to coincide with above-normal daytime temperatures, with maximum temperatures expected to be two to three degrees Celsius higher than usual across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The districts mentioned in the Wednesday rainfall forecast include Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Kanyakumari, and Tirunelveli. Additional rainfall is also possible in Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai, Madurai, Shivganga, and Ramanathapuram.
The forecast indicates that both western and southern districts of Tamil Nadu, along with parts of the Cauvery Delta, will experience moderate rain on Wednesday. According to a separate prediction, heavy rainfall is likely in the western districts in the coming days, particularly in Coimbatore and Nilgiris on Thursday and Friday.
On Friday, Theni is also expected to receive heavy rain, which could lead to significant precipitation in other nearby districts. The weather department has highlighted a higher likelihood of rain in Chennai later in the day, with light to moderate showers expected during the evening or night, while heavy rainfall is anticipated in Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and Theni.
Despite the forecasted rain, temperatures are expected to remain above normal on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department’s predictions apply to both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, where maximum temperatures are likely to be two to three degrees Celsius above normal levels.
The potential rainfall is not expected to alter the department’s forecasts for maximum temperatures in the state and the neighboring Union Territory on Wednesday. The weather predictions for the next two days focus particularly on Coimbatore and Nilgiris, where heavy rain is expected, as well as Theni, where significant rainfall is anticipated on Friday. Meanwhile, moderate rain is predicted for these districts on Wednesday, with light to moderate showers expected in Chennai later in the day.
