Heavy Rains Cause Minor Disruption on Ganga Expressway in Unnao
Despite heavy rainfall, Ganga Expressway remains operational, though water accumulation affects a ramp in Unnao.

Unnao, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : The Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh continues to operate normally amid ongoing heavy rainfall. While there are no significant flooding issues along the entire expressway, a specific ramp in Unnao has experienced water accumulation.
Project management teams are actively monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to ensure safe and smooth traffic flow. R.S. Mishra, the project manager, noted that the current rainfall is not typical but rather excessive and unusual. Despite this, the expressway remains fully functional, with vehicle movement proceeding as usual.
Mishra explained that the ramp in Unnao has faced flooding due to the relatively low height of nearby high-tension power lines. This has created conditions that hinder drainage. The agency is coordinating with relevant authorities to relocate the power lines, with plans to do so promptly after the monsoon season.
The Ganga Expressway team is fully alert and is keeping a close watch on weather and road conditions. Their goal is to maintain safe and uninterrupted traffic on the expressway, even during heavy rains. The project management clarified that, aside from the affected ramp in Unnao, there are no flooding issues elsewhere on the expressway, and traffic is operating normally.
However, the continuous rain has caused flooding at the Bashiratganj interchange on the expressway. Water accumulation on the interchange road in the Dahi police area has disrupted the movement of vehicles exiting the expressway. Drivers have reported significant difficulties crossing the road due to the water buildup. Local residents and motorists have expressed concerns about inadequate drainage, which leads to water pooling after rainfall, increasing the risk of accidents.
Tight coordination and proactive measures are essential as the region continues to face adverse weather conditions.
