Hardik Pandya Reflects on Jacob Bethels Run Out Moment in Thrilling T20 World Cup Match

Mumbai, March 7: The Indian cricket team secured a thrilling 7-run victory against England in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026. Young English batsman Jacob Bethel fought valiantly, scoring a century, but ultimately fell short in his team’s chase.

In the final over, England needed 30 runs, a daunting task. Bethel struck the first ball towards long-off, where the ball scooped towards Hardik Pandya. Attempting to maintain his strike, Bethel ran for a second run but failed to reach the crease in time. Pandya’s throw was expertly collected by wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, resulting in Bethel’s run out. This dismissal extinguished England’s last hope of victory, despite Jofra Archer hitting three sixes in that over.

In a video shared on BCCI TV, Hardik Pandya reminisced about the pivotal moment. He stated, “In life, there are two ways to react. My heart could have raced, and I might have failed to execute. So, I switched to my zen mode. I take pride in staying calm.”

He added, “Bethel was a batsman I needed to dismiss. I knew I had to remain composed and throw it where it needed to be. I aimed to pitch it a bit closer to the stumps, but we got the job done.”

Following the run-out, the Indian team erupted in celebration. Pandya humorously remarked, “My reaction was because my son was present. I wanted him and Mahika to enjoy this moment and feel how excited I was.”

In this match, Hardik bowled the crucial 19th over, conceding only 9 runs, which played a vital role in securing the team’s victory.
