Hanuman Beniwal Raises Concerns Over Religious Sites in Rajasthans Border Areas in Parliament

Jaipur, August 12: Hanuman Beniwal, the National President of the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) and MP from Nagaur, addressed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday regarding the alleged demolition of religious sites and residential complexes in Rajasthan’s border areas, particularly in the Barmer parliamentary constituency.

While invoking Rule 377 and drawing the attention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Beniwal accused authorities of demolishing several religious sites and residential structures linked to the Muslim community in border areas, including Barmer district, without proper dialogue or consent from the affected individuals.

Beniwal emphasized that while national security is paramount, the Constitution guarantees citizens the right to practice their religion and protects the sanctity of religious sites. He argued that any disputes related to religious sites or demolitions conducted for administrative or security reasons should be resolved through a lawful and transparent process.

He noted that actions taken without following due legal procedures or consulting local residents have led to significant discontent among the area’s populace.

Citing recent incidents in various parts of Barmer district, Beniwal alleged that mosques and other religious sites have been demolished in several locations. He specifically mentioned the Jama Masjid Siai, Jama Masjid Mekan ka Paar, Jama Masjid Kerakori, Jama Masjid Rampura (Daihewa), Dargah Syed Gul Mohammad Shah, and Bhalgaon Bakhisar.

He stated that these incidents have incited anger among certain segments of the local population and urged the government and administration to address the concerns of the affected residents.

Beniwal called for adherence to proper legal procedures, transparency, and sensitivity in handling matters related to religious sites in border areas in the future. He also requested the central government to send a team to assess the situation at the locations where demolitions allegedly occurred, ensuring the dignity and sanctity of religious sites are preserved.

Emphasizing the need for respect for all religions, Beniwal affirmed that he will continue to raise issues of injustice affecting people, regardless of their religion or community.
