Gandhinagar, May 17: The self-enumeration facility for the nationwide Census 2027 has officially commenced in Gujarat. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the self-enumeration process and urged citizens to actively participate in this significant national task.
The Chief Minister filled out the census form for himself and his family in alignment with Census 2027. He encouraged residents to complete their self-enumeration within the designated 15-day period, which runs from today until May 31. This initiative aims to contribute to the creation of a strong, inclusive, and developed India.
The self-enumeration facility in Gujarat will remain available until May 31. Following this period, fieldwork for housing listing and counting will take place from June 1 to June 30.
Notably, Census 2027 is being conducted using digital methods for the first time, while traditional door-to-door enumeration will also continue to ensure comprehensive and accurate coverage. During field visits, enumerators will collect data digitally using a specialized mobile application.
This phase will gather information related to residential status, family details, available amenities, and properties owned by families through a questionnaire containing 33 notified questions. This data will serve as a crucial foundation for evidence-based planning and the effective implementation of welfare and development programs.
The self-enumeration initiative has received an encouraging response from the public, with over 14.4 million families completing the process through the official portal across 25 states. This move marks a significant step towards the digitization of census operations, providing residents with a convenient and secure way to participate in the census process.
