Grand Welcome for Vietnams President To Lam at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi, May 6: Vietnam’s President To Lam received a grand welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday, complete with a formal guard of honor. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were present to greet the esteemed leader. Children dressed in traditional attire waved the flags of both Vietnam and India to honor the guest.

President To Lam arrived in India on Tuesday, landing in Gaya, Bihar, where he was welcomed by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Following this, he visited the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya for prayers. Upon reaching Delhi, he was welcomed at the airport by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai.

Earlier on Tuesday, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met with President To Lam to discuss strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, various aspects of enhancing India-Vietnam relations were discussed during this meeting.

The Foreign Ministry stated that President To Lam’s visit would further strengthen bilateral relations. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership established during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Vietnam in 2016.

President To Lam, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will be in India until May 7. This marks his first visit to India since taking office.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi and President To Lam will engage in extensive discussions on bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues. President Droupadi Murmu is also expected to meet him, along with other senior leaders.

As part of his itinerary, President To Lam will also travel to Mumbai, where he will visit the National Stock Exchange, meet with the Chief Minister and Governor of Maharashtra, and participate in a business forum.

The Foreign Ministry highlighted the historical and cultural ties between India and Vietnam, which have strengthened over time. This visit is anticipated to open new avenues for cooperation and provide fresh momentum to the relationship.
