
Itanagar, May 10: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, K.T. Parnaik, expressed concern on Saturday regarding the increasing prevalence of lifestyle diseases. Officials reported that this health issue is rapidly affecting individuals across all age groups in the state.
An official from Lok Bhawan mentioned that Bhupendra Kumar Singh Sanjay, the president of the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Guwahati, met with the Governor at Lok Bhawan in Itanagar.
The official further noted that they discussed the evolving landscape of healthcare in the Northeast, focusing on the unique health challenges and opportunities faced by Arunachal Pradesh.
Governor Parnaik highlighted the growing incidence of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, stress-related disorders, and heart disease, which are increasingly impacting people of all ages.
Emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare, Governor Parnaik urged AIIA Guwahati to initiate dedicated studies and research initiatives to identify practical solutions tailored to the socio-cultural and geographical conditions of the Northeast.
He underscored the necessity of a comprehensive healthcare approach, stressing the importance of integrating advanced medical research and the latest technologies into the state’s healthcare system.
The Governor requested AIIA Guwahati to collaborate with health officials and medical institutions in Arunachal Pradesh to share modern health innovations, research findings, and best medical practices. This collaboration aims to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state, enhance diagnostic capabilities, and improve patient care.
Renowned orthopedic surgeon and Padma Shri awardee Bhupendra Kumar Singh Sanjay assured Governor Parnaik of full cooperation and support from AIIA Guwahati in strengthening healthcare collaboration with the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences.
