Governor Anandiben Patel Urges Universities to Promote Research and Startups

Lucknow, May 15: Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has emphasized that universities should not only function as educational institutions but also play an active role in building a self-reliant India through research, innovation, and social responsibilities.

She directed technical universities to promote research on contemporary issues, make technologies developed by universities beneficial to society, and prepare a solid action plan for energy conservation and the use of indigenous products.

A review meeting of Madan Mohan Malaviya Technology University was held on Friday at Jan Bhawan, chaired by Governor and Chancellor of State Universities Anandiben Patel. During the meeting, deans and heads of various faculties presented on academic and administrative aspects, including vacant positions for teachers and staff, student admissions, placements, startups, research activities, hostel arrangements, and sports activities.

The Governor stressed the need to further encourage research activities at the university, stating that the drone technology developed by the university should reach farmers effectively. She noted that technology-based innovations will only be meaningful if they directly benefit society and the rural economy. She also instructed the development of kits for testing food quality or ensuring their use.

While reviewing hostel arrangements, the Governor highlighted the importance of maintaining regular communication with students. She pointed out the need for special attention to health checks, hygiene, and safety, especially in girls’ hostels.

She instructed that effective measures be taken to prevent outside food deliveries in hostels and to strictly control the entry of narcotics. Providing students with pure and nutritious food is essential, as healthy meals foster positive thinking and better personality development.

The Governor also emphasized the quick resolution of obstacles in startup activities and the effective implementation of various MOUs. She stated that universities should work towards becoming self-reliant and self-sufficient in line with the National Education Policy 2020.

She highlighted the need for a multidisciplinary approach in engineering and technical institutions and the inclusion of socially relevant topics in the curriculum. The Governor called on universities to enhance social engagement by connecting with orphanages and old age homes.

Additionally, she emphasized the organization of ‘Mother-Daughter Conferences’ in all universities, stating that such programs would help strengthen family and social values. During the meeting, the state’s Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel mentioned that the review meeting chaired by the Governor is a significant opportunity to provide new direction to universities, and every possible support will be extended from the government level.
